CREATIVE WRITING

A CONSTANT WORK IN PROGRESS...

The following is a collection of creative work I produced largely during my time in Copenhagen, Denmark in the Fall of 2016.  Engaging with this genre has been one of my greatest challenges and triumphs. I have found that I am always thinking of new ways to tweak these stories, and always have in mind new narratives to begin.  I hope you enjoy this ever-evolving collection.

THE COLD

COPENHAGEN, FALL 2016

During my time in the freezing tundra that is Scandinavia, I found myself writing dark pieces to challenge myself creatively. This short first-person narrative holds a psychotic man at the center-- a character inspired by infamous names like Patrick Bateman or Perry Smith.  As a student of psychology, I am fascinated by the experience of abnormal psychology-- it was natural that I should attempt tackling this challenging genre, with a bit of artistic flair.

THE BLACK PANTIES

COPENHAGEN, FALL 2016

Seeking creative inspiration whilst living among the Danes, one morning I decided to (inconspicuously) follow a stranger around a local grocery store and take notes. After this, I wrote a short story which gave my character, who I later called Ida, context. Her story is one of tragedy, triumph, and Whole Foods.

A LETTER TO YOU

COPENHAGEN, FALL 2016

In this first person narrative, I personify a mother who has undergone a traumatic event and is attempting to come to terms with what has happened. It takes place in my home state of Maine.
